CHANGE IN PATTERN OF THE EXAMINATION 2017-18
Dear Parents, This is to inform you that as CBSE have changed the examination pattern from this academic session, we have changed the pattern of examination to be conducted in the school during academic session 2017-18, for which the details are as below:
The examination and over all evaluation comprise of two activities:
- Scholastic Activities
- Co-Scholastic Activities

Scholastic Activities :
Scholastic activities includes the following subject -
- English
- Hindi
- Sanskrit
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Science

Co – Scholastic Activities:
For the overall development of the student, following co-scholastic activities will be carried out by the teachers:
- Work Education – Computer Science
- Art Education: Music – Vocal and Instrumental, Drawing (Class 1 – 7)
- Health and Physical Education: Sports/Yoga/Scout and Guides.
Considering the aspect of regularity, sincere participation, output and team work, students will be graded term-wise on a 3 point grading scale.
The assessment structure for the academic session is as below:

Term Examination:
Half Yearly Examination and Annual examination both will be conducted for 80 marks each.
- Term-I will be conducted for 80 marks, with syllabus covered till the announcement of examination dates.

Term-II will also be conducted for 80 marks. Complete syllabus of Term-II and syllabus coverage of Term-I as given below:
- For Class 1 to Class 5 – Term-I Syllabus will not be included in Term-II.
- For Class 6: 10% of Term-I covering significant topics + entire syllabus of Term-II
- For Class 7: 20% of Term-I covering significant topics + entire syllabus of Term-II
- For Class 8: 30% of Term-I covering significant topics + entire syllabus of Term-II
Note: The selected portion coverage of Term-I will be announced by the respective subject teacher in Term-II.

Periodic test:
Periodic Assessment will be conducted TWICE a year i.e. First Assessment will be conducted before Half Yearly Examination and Second Assessment will be conducted before Annual Examination.
The school will conduct two periodic written tests of 20 marks each for all the subjects during the academic session. The average marks out of 10 would count towards the final score of the subject for each term.

Notebook submission
Notebook submission is a part of internal assessment which addresses the critical aspect of regularity, punctuality, neatness and notebook upkeeping. It will be assessed out of 5 marks.

Subject enrichment activity:
These are subject – specific activities aimed at enhancing the understanding and the skill of the students. These activities will be carried out throughout the term, however, they will be evaluated at the term – end out of 5 marks.
- Languages: Activities will be conducted to develop effective listening and speaking skills.
- Mathematics: Lab activities will be conducted.
- Science: Practical work and activities will be conducted.
- Social Science: Map and project work will be undertaken.

Discipline:
The students will also be assessed for the discipline which will be best on the factors like attendance, sincerity, behavior, values, tidiness, respectfulness for rules and regulations, attitudes towards society, nation and others.
Grading scale for Scholastic Areas Marks Range Grade 91 – 100 A1 81 – 90 A2 71 – 80 B1 61 – 70 B2 51 – 60 C1 41 – 50 C2 33 - 40 D 32 & Below E (Needs improvement)
Grading scale for Co-Scholastic Areas Grade Description A Outstanding B Very Good C Fair
1. It is compulsory for students to secure subject wise minimum D grade and above in all examinations.
2. Those obtaining less than D grade will not qualify in that subject.
3. Students are advised not to remain absent as no retest will be conducted or any written examinations.
4. The syllabus of the respective examination will be announced by the respective subject teacher at the time of announcement of the examination date.
5. You are requested not to follow the syllabus book given for the purpose of examination.
